In February, our amazing supporters took on The Lullaby Trust’s virtual challenge, February Fifty. Supporters were encouraged to walk, run, cycle, swim or row 50km (or more!) and raise £50 (or more!) for The Lullaby Trust.
Sonia, who completed the challenge, shares his experience:
“We, Sonia (72) and Leslie (79) who live in Burnham, Bucks and our two daughters Tracy and her family who live in Woodley, Berks and Nicola who lives in Bournemouth, have all done the challenge this month. Our middle daughter Julie died at just 7 weeks in March 1983 and it has been a privilege to highlight her again this month.
We have all exceeded our expectations. Nicola has done 200km walking, cycling and swimming, Tracy has walked over 106km and the grandchildren have walked 70km between them. For me it was a massive challenge as I have had 5 hip replacements and have neuropathy in both legs and feet, but I have walked over 86km this month with my stick and I am really chuffed. It was also great to have buddies to walk with. I wanted to prove to myself and anyone else who is interested that whatever the circumstance and whatever the age you can do it if you tried hard enough. My husband Leslie has Parkinson’s so finds it difficult to walk at all so uses his walker and walked around our estate 50 times, quite an achievement for him. The 50km challenge has certainly been one of our lockdown highlights.”
