Robert and his family recently completed their Miles in Memory challenge, in memory of Sophia. Here, he shares his story:
“Our family has supported The Lullaby Trust ever since our daughter Sophia died unexpectedly in 2012 when she was just 11 weeks old. We have participated in research funded by the charity to try to find a reason why our baby died, as well as maybe help prevent other families going through the same trauma. The charity also helped our family through the CONI (Care of Next Infant) scheme when we had another child and we’ve benefited from attending Family Days Out and met other families. A couple of years ago I became a befriender with the charity to help carry on some of the support I got when Sophia died to other bereaved parents.
We did a Miles In Memory walk not just to raise money and continue our support for the charity but also to spend time together as a family remembering our beautiful daughter. Our children walked 50 miles and cycled 50 miles, my wife Lucinda ran 50 miles and walked 50 miles, and I walked 100 miles.”
