‘But although the midwives speak about SIDS a lot during pregnancy they never mentioned the CONI programme. I would have liked to have known about it during pregnancy.’
Who this training is for: Specifically aimed at midwives, student midwives and maternity support workers working in areas of England, Wales and Northern Ireland where the CONI programme is commissioned and available to local families.
Unfortunately this training is not open to midwives in Scotland at present.
Training content: A recorded training presentation that includes detailed information about the Care of Next Infant (CONI) Programme so that midwives will be able to talk to expectant parents about what emotional and practical support CONI can offer them.
In addition to this training, there is a free A5 easy read card in English to act as a memory aid for midwives antenatally, which can then be given to the expectant parent(s). It is also available in a printable PDF format and there are PDF versions of the card in a range of languages to support inclusivity of CONI.
Cost per person: Free!
