Dr Stephanie Henderson-Begg (Chair)

Dr Stephanie Henderson-Begg is a Director in the banking regulation team at PwC, providing advice to bank boards and senior management teams. She has a particular passion for training and coaching from her time as a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London and has a background in primary academic biomedical research.

In her spare time as well as chairing the Board of Trustees for The Lullaby Trust, she has acted as Chair and Secretary for her local British Sub Aqua Club and as a School Governor for two local primary schools where she was Chair of Governors and Chair of the Pay & Performance Committee at different times. Stephanie is a bereaved parent and mother to two living children who has first-hand experience of using our services.

Nick Mitrovic

Nick is a technology executive, passionate about the role of technology in the modern society and its impact on business success. Nick has worked across many industry sectors, developing highly effective teams from start-up to large global organisations. He holds post graduate degrees in Computer Science, Engineering, and Executive MBA from the University of Oxford.

In his spare time, Nick supports a biotech start-up, develops software, and dabbles in robotics. Nick is a bereaved parent and has first-hand experience of using our services. Before becoming a Trustee, Nick has been providing pro-bono support to the Trust.

Pete Thomas

Pete Thomas is the Chief Operating Officer of Home-Start UK, the centre of a national federation of over 180 family support charities. He became aware of our services through the value placed on our Safer Sleep guidance by local Home-Starts as they work with tens of thousands of families each year. With more than 15 years in senior roles across the charity sector, Pete’s passion is helping organisations to make strategic choices and deliver genuine impact.

Pete became a Trustee in September 2021. He lives in Leicestershire with his wife and three children and is always starting (but never finishing) writing a new post apocalyptic novel.

Sally Hogg

Sally Hogg is an experienced charity sector leader, passionate about families’ well-being, child development and social justice. Sally is currently Head of Policy and Communications at the Parent-Infant Foundation, where she leads work to drive change for babies and their families. Sally coordinates the All-Party Parliamentary Group for conception to age 2 and the First 1001 Days Movement, a campaigning alliance of nearly charities and professional bodies including Lullaby Trust.

Sally’s previous roles included Strategic Lead at the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, Senior Commissioner in a Local Authority and Development Manager for Children Under One at the NSPCC, where she developed and implemented research-led interventions. Sally started her career as a Civil Servant working on Children’s Policy in Westminster and New South Wales, Australia. Sally has authored a range of policy reports relating to the importance of the earliest years of life and issues affecting families during that time.

Robin Carvell-Spedding

Robin Carvell-Spedding is a senior in-house lawyer. Having trained and qualified at a large London law firm, he has advised and worked in a range of energy companies across the world over the past 15 years.  Currently General Counsel at New Age (an oil and gas exploration company), Robin has a wealth of legal, regulatory compliance and governance skills and experience.

Robin became a Trustee in August 2022. On hearing that The Lullaby Trust was looking for someone with a legal background to join the Board, Robin jumped at the chance to get involved. Having gone through the experience of multiple miscarriages with his wife and known bereaved parents, he is passionate about the Trust’s twin purpose of reducing the number of infant deaths and supporting bereaved families. A fervent advocate for gender equality and the role of fathers in family life, Robin is particularly interested in the Trust’s work with new and bereaved fathers.

Robin lives with his wife, Rachel, and young daughter and son in south-west London.

Alan Curtis

Alan Curtis is a charity fundraiser by profession and during a long, successful, and fulfilling career raised millions of pounds for a range of causes including international development, security and race relations, and for young people with learning difficulties.

Alan has a law degree from Birmingham University, but did not become a lawyer, preferring to help people through his work for charities. He started as an entry level fundraiser and quickly worked his way up to Director of Fundraising, a position he has held at a number of national charities.

In 2019 Alan started his own consultancy to use his skills and knowledge to help charitable organisations develop their fundraising functions and strategies. He is now retired and has recently completed an MA in Political Philosophy at Royal Holloway, University of London.

Alan lives in Hertfordshire with his wife Caroline and their son Alex.

George Williams

George Williams is a financial services professional with experience leading large teams and global initiatives across digital marketing, strategic development, operational transformation, and risk management. He has a passion for developing people and building inclusive working environments, fostered from living and working across the UK, Middle East, Far East and North America.

Outside of work George also volunteers as a non-executive director at a start-up, a governor at a school in his local community and mentor to students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Dr Emily Prior

Emily Prior is a Paediatrician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Emily qualified from Imperial College in 2012 and has worked a across a number of hospitals in North-West London during her paediatric training. She was awarded a Medical Research Council Fellowship in October 2020 and currently splits her time between working in research in the Academic Neonatal Medicine department at Imperial College and clinically on the neonatal unit at Chelsea. Her research is focused on investigating long term health outcomes of children born preterm. She also sits on the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health’s Engagement Committee and Great Ormond Street Hospital parent advisory group for research. Emily is married to Benoit and they live in South-west London with their young daughter.

Alison Day

Ali Day is currently the Director of Communications at Prostate Cancer UK, and has played a key role in building men’s awareness of prostate cancer. Previous to this, Ali was a sports marketing specialist at PUMA, and led major projects such as their London Olympics 2012 and Rugby World Cup 2011 campaigns. She also enjoys going to music festivals and playing golf.
