12 ways to care for your wellbeing when you've been impacted by the death of a baby or young child.
Baby Loss Awareness Week happens every year between 9th and 15th October. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of baby loss and campaign for the provision of better bereavement care.
The final day of the week, 15th October, is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. This is marked by the #GlobalWaveOfLight where families across the world light candles to commemorate the lives of their babies and share memories of the all too brief time they had together.
Supported by an alliance of over 100 charities, and united by the pink and blue ribbon (see below), the week has three key aims:
💗 Remembrance
💙 Raising awareness
💗 Driving change
This year's theme is 'together we care' with a focus on wellbeing and how to care for yourself and/or the people around you when experiencing grief. Here are some wellbeing resources that are free to download.

Supporting a friend, loved one, colleague, or neighbour whose baby has died can bring a rollercoaster of emotions and questions. Our friend’s toolkit will put your support into context and normalise your experience. It will help you to help your friend when they need it most- one ‘tool’ at a time.
We start each tool written from the bereaved person’s perspective “Dear friend…” , helping us to learn how we might be able to support them more fully.

Just £9 could pay for a support package to be sent to a bereaved family, giving advice, sharing experiences from other bereaved parents and signposting to where they can get further support.

Create a tribute fundThis Baby Loss Awareness Week, you can show that care creates change by asking your MP to speak up on baby loss. Your MP works for you and their job is to amplify your voice and care about the issues that matter to you.
By getting MPs involved, we can show that together we care, and that care creates change.
MPs who understand why pregnancy and baby loss matter can help us hold the government to account on issues such as maternity safety, inequality and mental health.
Take two minutes to ask your new MP to speak up about baby loss.
